Winooski Headwaters Community Partnership

The Winooski Headwaters Community Partnership brings together the towns of Cabot, Marshfield, and Plainfield to coordinate watershed restoration work in the headwaters of the Winooski River. The Partnership is supported by Cabot Creamery.

We are happy to announce two new partners in the Headwaters: Vermont Woodlands Association and Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission! They are working with WHCP on the Water Wise Woodlands project, with support from the High Meadows Fund.

Projects for 2018-2019 include:

  • Volunteer water sampling
  • Volunteer planting in stream buffers
  • Twinfield School stormwater education program
  • Recreation Road, Plainfield, erosion study & design of solutions

NEW: Water Wise Woodlands

Well-managed woodlands play a key role in a clean, healthy, resilient watershed. Woodland landowners can work with foresters to develop stewardship plans that will benefit their woodlands with healthier trees and better habitat for wildlife and birds, and also benefit their communities by reducing flood damage downstream.
