Restore Stream Buffers by Planting Trees and Shrubs

Friends of the Winooski River has over 3,000 young trees and shrubs to plant in April and May this year, and we need volunteers to get these plants in the ground and make our streambanks cleaner, healthier, and more resilient!

Volunteers should come prepared for a variety of weather. Dress in layers and bring rain gear and a sun hat: it is entirely possible to need both on the same day! Volunteers should wear long pants and closed toed shoes. Please bring plenty of food and water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. We have a limited supply of shovels and gloves, so please bring your own if you have them. We will plant rain or shine unless there is a dangerous storm.

Shawn White, our Program Manager, is coordinating these planting days. Please let her know that you're interested in volunteering by sending her an email: shawn [at] winooskiriver.org. Thank you!
